As I mentioned, they came down from Oregon for their destination wedding at Wayfarer’s Chapel in Palos Verdes.

Since they were only in town for the wedding and there was only a select number of family and friends in attendance, there was not a big reception planned here in California.

The bad news is that means no fun reception photos …. the good news is I got a FULL hour (plus) for portraits…

So luxurious.

(note: brides and grooms, this is why I love doing a ‘first look’ before the ceremony. So much more time for portraits)

We took some on the grounds of the Wayfarer’s Chapel, and then  down the road a little to the Terranea Resort (where Kristian and Stephanie spent their wedding night) for some gorgeous beach portraits.

… I had no idea how much I missed this!

I haven’t experienced a SoCal spring season since 2002 … 7 years? The couple days of a Phoenix spring season don’t even compare.

Perfect weather. Cool enough that I still need a sweater. Warm enough that I don’t need anything heavier.

Spring makes me want to drive out on the 101 in the afternoons. All the way to Agoura Hills or Thousand Oaks. With my window down. Getting my arms unevenly tanned

Spring makes me want to go buy flowy, colorful dresses. And wear skirts…. every day.

Spring makes me want to lounge around outside with a book that develops into a nap.

Spring makes me want to wear flip-flops. The first day of 2009 to wear flip-flops was Friday. Just warm enough to get away with naked toes ….

Spring makes me want to read Anne of Green Gables. I always crave those books in springtime.

Spring makes me want to add ‘TREES’ in big letters to the top of my future-house wishlist.

Spring makes me want to throw away my computer so I don’t have to be inside on these gorgeous days.

It pains me how cute they are.

This is the couple whose wedding I will be shooting in Italy in October … CAN.NOT. WAIT.

Beth is the sister of another good friend of ours, so recently (with the wedding and Eleanor’s bday) Andrew and I have really become part of the family (whether they like it or not!)

The wedding was on a Sunday afternoon in Las Vegas at a venue called Rainbow Gardens.

The first part of the day was filled with portraits (which I absolutely could not have gotten done w/o Beth and Jenny’s friend Ally! thank you!) …

(I think I’m just going to let the images speak for themselves … take a look and let me know what you think!)

I love taking the photos, I love editing and improving the photos, I love pouring over the photos later.

But I don’t really take the time and money to print/hang photos. Most of that is because Andrew used to be a custom framer and probably wouldn’t let me buy a frame off the shelf …

Nevertheless, walking into a room that has all my images framed and hung is a very surreal experience. The first time it happened was probably one of the coolest things …

I LOVE the aesthetic quality of all of these images in the same style. Nice that they’re mine, but the fact that they are all consistent is just so lovely to me …

Love it.

This wedding party was SO MUCH FUN. Obviously close friends, crazy, goofy, making themselves laugh. It was a total blast.

This was also the first real chance I got to see Nick and Cora interact, since I hadn’t met Nick previously. Let me tell you – they have a happy life ahead of them.

Nick and Cora are very clearly best friends. So in love and so happy. I love the fact that they are such good friends. It bodes very well for their future. …. reminded me of Andrew and me, if you want to know the truth.

So, every Wednesday I’m going to try to post a list of what is inspiring me that week. I guess kind of similar to what Susan has been doing…

Most of these are anticipation related … stuff I am looking forward to accomplishing or experiencing. I wish there were 30 more hours in every day. Not because of all the stuff I HAVE to do … but because of all the stuff I want to do.

• Eric Clausen – especially this recent wedding. love his style. Trying to think of a reason to fly him out to CA to shoot.
• crossing things off my to-do list (makes me feel OK about adding new stuff to the list)

• Mary Poppins – I just watched this recently. I had forgotten how much I love this movie and how much I wanted to BE Mary Poppins. I sat there grinning the whole 2.5 hours.

When we drove down there we were able to do some quick family photos for the holidays (and for Grandma’s Christmas present). …
