I love the city and the crazy people and the not-too-old history.

I love being a tourist in this city.

Which means I love when people come visit us from out of town so I have an excuse to be a tourist.

Last weekend I had a friend in town and we did all kinds of touristy things. … I took some photos. Not a lot. I really spent more time reading the museum placards and taking in the views.

We also visited the Pepperdine Wave of Flags 9/11 memorial …. on a foggy Sunday morning.

We also checked out the Annenberg Space for Photography, the beach at Leo Carrillo and the Getty Center.

Busy busy but I love it.

Can you believe summer is already over?? And right when Andrew found some white tennis shoes that he really loves….

I haven’t been blogging a *ton* of personal stuff here this summer, but rest assured we have been quite busy! Totally aside from the weddings and portraits I’ve been shooting this summer.

Such a fun season!

At the beginning of June, I joined my sister-in-law Kaitlin, and 13 of her closest friends on a 3-day cruise to Ensenada, Mexico to celebrate her bachelorette-ness.

About mid June, we headed over to Phoenix to celebrate Father’s Day with my family. And my brother happened to be in town with his new favorite game Settlers of Catan….. and my mom and I headed to a 2nd-hand store with a gorgeous green wall.

Also mid-June, we finally used the gift certificate I got for Christmas from Andrew’s parents – for the Pantages Theater in Hollywood. I had been really wanting to see In the Heights – and since Lin-Manuel Miranda elected to do the shows in Los Angeles, how could we pass it up?

Mid-July my parents, grandmother and great-aunt all came out to L.A. from Arizona…. We kind of have a family tradition of trying to go to the Hollywood Bowl at least once every summer. This summer we saw a Beatles tribute with the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra – Todd Rungren in the photo below.

One of the best parts about living in Los Angeles is it seems like EVERYONE wants to come out and visit. Near the end of July my cousin came out from Arizona!

And then, my BFF got a job in San Francisco and left L.A. Sad! But we all got together for a bit of a going away party for Angela….

But the first week of August was definitely the busiest ….. starting with the 5th anniversary portrait shoot for Andrew and I. Shot at the Los Angeles Central Library by Jamie Delaine.

Then later that same day the rehearsal and rehearsal dinner for Katie and Joe’s wedding (more photos to come)

Pretty much all the family stayed at the hotel together the night before the wedding and all the cousins took a late-night dip in the pool

Friday, August 6 (one month ago today!) was Katie and Joe’s wedding (more photos to come)

The day after the wedding – since so many family members were already in town – we all got together at Andrew’s parents’ house for wedding-couple-gift-opening and a rousing game of croquet

Mid-August we visited Hollywood Bowl again. This time with my *other* side of the family come out from Arizona. Harry Connick Jr at the Hollywood Bowl with the L.A. Philharmonic. My 86-year-old grandma was quite pleased she knew so many of the songs.

p.s. Harry puts on a GREAT show. Make sure you see him if you get the chance!

Some friends of ours have a summer tradition that we’ve been part of the last couple years – Keith’s dad flies in live lobster from Maine and holds a big BBQ in his backyard. mmmm …. Lobsterfest 2010 with lobster, steak, corn on the cob, grilled onions and more !!

And finally (finally) last weekend we headed down to San Diego. We have friends down there who let us know (last summer) about the Leopard Sharks that visit La Jolla every year. So we went snorkeling. With Sharks. In the wild.

For real.

Summer may be over, but fall is on its way!

Andrew and I fell in love in the fall season (9 years ago) so we’re pretty excited to wrap up in sweaters and drink apple cider..
