A few months ago I had the chance to shoot with another Los Angeles wedding photographer, Jason Javier Photography.
I love ‘second shooting.’ It’s actually relaxing in a strange way. I get to fill in the gaps while the primary photographer is busy with the ‘must-have’ shots. It’s more creative, it’s less stressful, and I still get to be part of a wedding day.
Example: You’ll see below, I covered ‘the kiss’ from the back of the couple – rather than straight down the aisle as I usually do. I think it adds an interesting element to the wedding day coverage and gives the primary photographer something different to provide to his clients.
Plus, it lifts a tiny bit of the stress off of the primary photographer. Speaking from experience, it is so nice to be able to ask someone else to go cover guests signing the guest book, for example, while I cover the bride in anticipation in the dressing room. I love when couples book my packages with 2 photographers.
Jason asked me to arrive just before the ceremony – Mario and Trisha chose to do most of the portraits before hand – so I was able to help him with the ceremony, details as well as the reception. …
Both the ceremony and the reception took place at the Sheraton Hotel in Pasadena. You’ll see below, the room for the ceremony had skylights and was just full of natural light. …. the reception was next door.
Take a look …
There were some family and other group pictures briefly after the ceremony, and it was so amazing to see Mario and Trisha interacting with their friends and family. One of the reasons I love shooting weddings is all the love that is just so apparent on these days …
Come back Friday for the second part of Mario and Trisha’s Pasadena wedding day – shot for Jason Javier Photography
