I’ve been thinking about offering a half-day or full-day workshop for brides, grooms, and/or wedding parties on some of the best ways to make sure your photographer gets great photos of you on your wedding day.

Leave a comment below if this is the kind of thing you would be interested in …. Keep in mind it is just in the brainstorming stages now- but I have a whole slew of ideas that I think you might really like.

In thinking about the workshop content, I’ve been pondering what I could teach and what would be the Most Important tip for getting great images on your wedding day:

Be Authentic

That’s it.

It’s that easy (and difficult) – just Be Yourself and Enjoy Your Wedding Day

Ariel at Offbeat Bride posted about being authentic (versus seeking attention) and I think it’s a great read for any bride/groom looking to have their wedding day really be memorable for themselves and their guests but still be true to their personalities.

With my wedding photography, my number 1 goal is to document the wedding day exactly as you remember it, just as it happens (which is why I shun some of the ridiculous wedding-party-photo-setups out there).

A bride or groom who is genuinely excited about being married to their best friend, who is comfortable in letting their groomsmen wear converse, or having their reception involve an ‘open mic’ event will really be most comfortable on her/his wedding day. And it is the bride and groom who are comfortable and not-stressed that really are their best on their wedding day (for themselves, for the guests, and for the camera).

And beleive me, if you are stressed you’ll see it in your photos. Not only will you see it in your photos, but anxiety will be part of all your memories for that special day.

Which is why it is so important to be comfortable and just be yourself and allow your wedding day to be authentically true to your and your fiancee’s personalities.

Really doing the soul-searching and introspection to decide what aspects of your wedding day are the most important, which traditions are unimportant, what details of the ceremony will best contribute to symbolizing the commitment you are making … that will not be easy.

But it will be so worth it.
