Welcome fall!
Andrew and I both grew up in the Santa Clarita Valley, where Lombardi Ranch is a big part of most families’ fall traditions.
A week or so ago on a Sunday morning – we went to Lombardi’s Ranch!!! Last year, I believe it was closed because of the brush fires. But it was opened Sunday!
We only stayed about 1/2 hour or so … it was too too windy. And expensive. Nothing to do that didn’t cost $$ (except looking at farm animals in cages) … I really wanted some fresh, hot corn on the cob, but the wind was blowing all sorts of dust all over the place. And you really shouldn’t eat in dust.
I only had vague plans to carve a pumpkin, so leaving without one was perfectly fine. It was more about reminding ourselves of the season.
This gal was eye-balling me the whole time…
All my barnyard animal photos are a little depressing, because you can see the fence/cage … no getting around that.
But there were chickens and pigs, and geese, and a turkey … a llama … I forget what else …
Lombardi’s – every year – has a Scarecrow contest. I was totally excited to see all the scarecrows. There are always some scary ones, and some pop culture ones. This year, though, I don’t know. Seems like they have started charging for scarecrow alley (which they didn’t last time I was there). And we didn’t want to pay for it …
But, there was a few lonely scarecrows hanging about ….
So so glad we got to go. Reminded me of going in my growing-up years. And now we know to budget better for it next year!
Happy Halloween everyone!
