I’ve been rethinking my photography, why I love weddings and what I want my brides and grooms to know about be even before they hire me.

To that end, I have revamped the “about” section of the website.

*My name is Amy Teegan Schubert. I was born in Phoenix, Arizona, grew up in Southern California (Santa Clarita), went to college at Arizona State University, and will very soon be moving back to Southern California.

*I love my middle name. Love it. No reason. ‘Teegan’ is just unique and creative and I love that my parents stepped so far away from popular names to give me ‘Teegan.’

*My middle name may have been inspired by a friend’s cat’s name. But my mother denies it.

*Sometimes, when I’m feeling especially creative, I sing showtunes …. Loudly.

*I have a background in theatre and music and spent all of high school (and several years afterward) doing theatre and musicals.

*I started out taking photos long ago because I love my friends. They were all “drama geeks” and all …. crazy. Everything could become a game, any moment could suddenly be improvised into a ‘scene.’ The people I spent all of my high school years around are fascinating and over-the-top and had an aura of magic. I hoped my photos could capture just some of that.

*What I love about theater, music, film and many other cultural staples is that they all feel … magical and larger-than-life. I love things that are slightly fantastic – like the Muppets. Or musicals.

*Weddings, to me, are the slightly fantastic version of your real life. I strive so somehow translate the magic of movies to the magic of your wedding day. Your wedding is one of the only times in your life that you are the biggest star. No need to be apologetic about it. That’s one of the reasons all your friends and family are traveling to see you. On your wedding day you have that magical, special star quality that everyone wants a part of. Just to be near you on that day and be able to share that amazing moment in your life.

*When you hire me to shoot your family, friends, and love you’re not only going to be getting fresh, fun photos, you may also be making a friend. I love the world through my photos, so I may get attached to my clients. After I shoot your wedding, please contact me to shoot your maternity session whenever that may be. If I shoot portraits of your toddler, feel free to contact me to shoot his birthday party the next year. The better your photographer knows you, the better your photos can be.

*I also have a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in English literature. I would love to recommend a book to you if you’re interested.
